last week some dummy rearended the back bumper of my car while it was chilling in the parkinglot, i got a check from his insurance company to replace and repaint the bumper for $1023, but since then ive been using the money for other things, because the bumper isnt that messed up, just a couple scuff marks, and the paint is chipping in one spot. my question is that is it possible to just sand my bumper (even tho its poly urethane or whatever) and repaint it? or will i have to replace it to make it look normal?

I think you should invest in a little orbital sander tool (I think they're like $40 or so at Wal-mart) and try to sand that bumper yourself. Bodywork can be pretty rewarding and you'll find that its not too difficult. Get a little practice in and next thing ya know you'll be repairing dents and replacing fenders like a pro. Then think of all the money you'll save on your next fender-bender. More money for mods.
