Well it looks like I'll be running the safc/logger combo for tuning and I was wondering what datalogger I should get. Is there much of a difference between them as far as software etc.? Currently I dont have a palm but I have a laptop so are there any obdII loggers that work well on laptops with Dsm's or is it better to use a palm? I have looked at loggers from pocketlogger (most popular I believe, also most expensive) dsm loggers & tunerstein/palm'n'stein (cheepest). Is there another make I should be looking at?

For a laptop I would definetly go with DSMLINK. It's a logger and fuel management all in one and still uses your factory ECU. You will however have to get an ECU from a 95 with E-PROM. :thumb:

You do not need an S-AFC. DSMLINK has all you need. I'm actually going to sell my S-AFC & Palm Logger to get it. You can control timing with it, adjust your ECU settings to fit your upgraded injectors, fuel pump, ect. just like the S-AFC. It also has a studder-box so you can build boost off the line. Go to the search engine and type in DSMLINK. There is more than enough info on it. Your already one step ahead because you've got the 95 ECU w/E-PROM.

Actually I was looking for a cheeper option right now, eventually might get dsmlink but didnt want to spend the ~$600 for dsm link then another $300+ on a eprom ecu. Thats why Im looking at the logger/safcII option. I guess I should have mentioned in my first post not to include dsm link.

you are going to spend around $600 for the logger & SAFC. palm will cost you around $100, logger software around $200, and the SAFC for around $200-250 so looks like $600 is going to be your lucky #. that's why I say to just go with DSMLINK. you will not regret it. the only reason I say this is because I already made the mistake to buy the SAFC, palm & logging software and I personally think it sucks compared to link!! If you want my SAFC, palm & logging software I'll sell you mine.

Refurb. Palm $40, connector & link cable $100 safc $250 So ~$400 which is alot less then ~$1000 for dsmlink, its not in the budget this winter as I'm already spending ~$4000 on other parts. Like I said will probably end up going dsmlink but not this year. So any help on preferences/differences between the dsm specific loggers would be appreciated.

I hear ya! You can go with pocketlogger.com. I got AutoEnginity off ebay and it does pretty good. I paid $200 shipped and it came with a Dyno sofware that also runs off the palm and gives you a ballpark of your 1/4 mile, hp, 0-60, ect.. Sounds like you can get a good deal on the palm which is nice. You'll need to go to get a hotsync cable to connect to the adapter. With that and the SAFC you can still do some pretty good tuning. I recommend an AFPR if you upgrade your injectors/fp. Makes tuning alot easier with the SAFC. I gained all my timing back and took care of the turd stain on the bumper from the Aeromotive. Good luck and always check search. I've pretty much built my car off just reading shit. :thumb:

Yes I have been looking at pocket logger as it seems to be the most common but is more expensive then the other ones I've seen, is it any better or are they all pretty much the same? What are you other 2g guys running?

Yes I have upgraded my injectors/fuel pump and I already have an aeromotive fpr :thumb:

I use the Alex Peper logger on my Windows laptop. Does the job quite nicely. He releases new improved versions of the software pretty regularly too. Quite inexpensive for all that it can do.

If you can save up the cash for the DSMLink though it'd be well worth the wait. I'd do the DSMlink myself, except I have a car that was built ages ago with a VPC/GCC setup with a G-Force re-engineered EPROM ECU... Runs really good as is, and would be a big headache to convert to DSMLink...
