When I put mine on I made sure I used the proper torque and was very generous with the red loctite.

flywheel bolts arn't just any old bolts they have a higher tensel strength, sorry i am not sure what the thread/pitch is other wise i woulda told u

i think there the same size but not 100% sure. just a little fyi if you use a aluminum flywheel such as fidanza its thicker by 4mm. i opted to buy these with mine. all in all it has everything hardware wise for the flywheel.

I just installed a Fidanza on my 2g 7 bolt AWD. I used Grade 8's (from NAPA, -they are red in color) that are about 5 mm's longer than stock, toothed washers, and high strength [red] loctite.

Is this acceptable fastening? I also used longer grade 8's and loctite with snap washers for the pressure plate to flywheel connection.

I was told to use new flywheel bolts from Mitsu. for an AUTO 2g 7bolt, as they are longer. Unfortunately making it the dealer wasnt possible, so I got the best fasteners available at NAPA.

If anyone disagrees with my decision, please advise, as I surely want to do this right the first time

yes aluminum flywheels are 4mm thicker. you dont need new bolts ut im sure you wouldnt want it fallin off. i figured it was good security thatsd why i got mine



also gixx the locktite was a smart move. that stuff is great. as long as the bolts were a hair longer then the stock you should be ok. just need a little more surface with a longer bolt to grab with. the grooved washers were also a good step in keepin em in there. the stock bolts and the ones from forced performance i got have washers in em allready.

i can't get the kit cause i am having problems with them shipping to Puerto Rico, so i do in fact need longer bolts?
I bought a fidanza flywheel.
Can somebody help me on exactly what bolts i need to get? what washers? loctite?
Etc. A step by step if you will, that would be really helpful.

ACT flywheels don't require longer bolts, do they? I just bolted mine up today and put my old 7-bolt bolts into the 6-bolt ACT flywheel. Also, they didn't have washers when I took them off of my old motor, so I wouldn't think you need them with the new one.

Also, how crucial is putting loctite on the threads? I didn't do that when I torqued mine down...should I rip everything off and do that?

I dont think the 2G auto bolts are longer then the stock m/t ones. I looked them up in caps and the 1G m/t bolts are 12x22.5mm. From what I see the 2G a/t ones are 12x11mm roughly.

I need some new flywheel bolts and I don't want to have to wait for the dealership to order them. I have a store near me (Tacoma Screw) that has a HUGE selection of bolts, but I need to know exactly what I need. I'm sure they can match up the bolt to the size and thread I need, but is there a certain "hardness" I need for the bolts? I'm not sure how bolts are rated, but my dad said I would probably need "Grade 8" bolts or something like that. Does anyone have any experience with this? Do any regular auto parts stores carry what I need? Any little bit of info will help! Also, when you got your flywheel bolts (from the dealership) how long did you have to wait for them?

Flywheel bolts have to be he!!atiously hard. Grade 11!!! You will not find that grade easily or quicker than through slow boy or another supplier of that specific bolt. Believe my I tried jsut about 1500 miles ago when I replaced my flywheel. Let me guess you rounded your shoulders like I did . It is the same bolt used on your differential gear!!! super hard.

I wouldn't just put on some "half-assed" bolts until you get new ones. You're not going to want to be pulling the motor and/or tranny soon after you install it. Not any bolt will work, and I believe they're a special bolt anyways. I'd wait and get the right ones.

note that metric bolts are spec'd by "class" and not "grade" like SAE inch thread bolts are. Class 12.9 is not the same as grade 12- there is no grade 12 unless we're talking about high school . Grade 8 in SAE is approximately the same strength as class 10.9 metric.

No. Grade 5, 8, etc bolts are only SAE= inch size. Grade has the hash/dash marks on the head (some may also say "grade 8"). 3 dashes or hash marks = grade 5, 6 marks = grade 8.

Class rating is only metric thread. Class has the numbers on the head, ex 10.9. You will not find a metric thread bolt with the hash marks on the head. The 10.9 is not class 11, it is 10.9; the 10 means something as does the 9; they relate to the strength property of the bolts.

Most people do not know about the "class" designation but it is the correct terminology. Use it to impress your non-metric friends at your own risk.

The auto crankshaft bolts are shorter, and the manual/flywheel to crankshaft bolts are longer, this is why I am asking. Need to know the length and grade for the flywheel to crankshaft bolts. Thx.
