I was driving the car today, from work to my house (about 1 mile, about 3 stops). No biggy, I'm driving along, and the car started slowing down despite the throttle being pushed in, and then it just died, I made a u turn (with the car off) and parked it, I open the hood and inspect, nothign wrong, then I checked the oil and there was none. Did my engine blow up? I hope to God not man I've put so much work and money into this car, please hit me back. Is there anything I can do other then put oil back in it? Thanks~Brandon.

Thats sucks, the sad part is that the motor might be gone if you said there was no oil in it. If I was you, I would put some oil in it. Then take the spark plugs out and add a cap of oil in there. Also before you start it you might want to see if you have an oil leak of some sort. I would then let it sit for maybe 12 hours, and see if the motor was frozen. If it is frozen, then chances are that you just should get another block. If it starts then do a leak down and compression test to make sure everythings ok. Good luck

Will the engine turn over? If it doesn't turn over and just goes "click, click, click", more than likely you seized up your engine. No oil, equals no lubrication, and lots of heat and friction and engine failure.

Agree'd, Also how could you put so much work and money into your car and let it run out of Oil?

My last Gsx ran out of oil, As soon as the oil light flickered, I drove it about 1 block and the knocking started terribly. It was very loud. By by to that car. :thumbdown
I check the oil in my car now every day or every other day. I'd rather be safe then sorry. I also carry about 3 quarts of oil with me at all times, Just incase. If I would have done this with my last car, The engine would not have been junk because i could have added oil and made it home.

wow ... just wow. That's sad that someone HAS to drive around with extra oil just in case. How are you people loosing oil!??? Either you're leaking or burning it, but won't leaving puddles behind tell you which one  Then just fix the problem. Either way if you ran your motor for a while without oil you are screwed.

Haha! I dont mean that my car is burning or leaking oil!! I guess I made it sound like a big problem. My car does neither, Everything on this car is brand new! I do infact carry oil though 'just in case'. You really never know what could happen. What if you're driving an you're oil filter some how back off and you loose oil? Ut oh thank god you have the 'just in case' oil :) And ya, My old car was the pos of dsm's, I bought it like that. I have no idea where the oil went

I wonder where you're oil went? 'The original thread starter' Hopefully you didnt break anything but most likly running no oil will hurt you. Good luck.

Add 1qt of oil. Check the dipstick. If its normal your fine. The dipstick will be bone dry at as little as 3/4 qt low.

However judging by your description of what happened, Im willing to bet you need a new engine.

If all of the sudden your engine is out of oil. Either you never really checked your oil in a long while or you could have possibly thrown a rod out the oil pan. Check you oil pan for holes. If none, then add 3 to 4gts of oil and see if it turns over. Chances are it's done. Sorry to hear about your car. Good luck. ;)

My oil filter seal blew and I lost ll oil. Slowed to a stop without knocking an had it towed. Mechanic filled with oil and it was good to go. The power of prayer!! mark
