I got a little more done on my motor. I installed a crank scraper I had made along with other things. I had to do some grinding on the scraper to fit around the main studs and some areas around were the crank throws were close to hitting. I accually had to do the job twice when I found the crank was hitting when I bolted the oil pan on and turned the crank. Permatex ultra grey was used on the top and bottom of the scraper. I cant wait until I can beat on this thing again!! :D

A crank scraper scrapes the oil off of the crank as it rotates past the scraper. While it may sound like a waste, it is really good for 2 reasons - 1, it puts more oil in the pan immediately so that it can be picked up by the pump and pumped back into the engine, and 2, it knocks off unnecessary oil weight from the crank which, while rotating at 7,000 rpm, a little oil weight can make a big difference.

Yea I know (I was waiting for someone to give me a hard time about it) I just had it and wanted to get rid of it. Its only going to be on the motor for the first 10 min then after the first oil change its gone.

sweet! now take off that fram filter!

please explain, i use fram on every car i have ever had with absolutely no problems and clean oil at everty change.

There have been tests on all the oil filers out there and frams are the worst in quality components and filtering abilitys. They also have a poor anti drain back valve that is made to hold the oil in the filter after you shut the motor down and prevent dry start ups causing increased engine wear and the lifter tick we all incounter. The oil filter you use has some falt at that as well not just the oil. There is more to a filter than just a big name in a colorfull box to grab your eye. :barf:

Frams have been known to implode and throw their internals in your engine, bad times.

Even the cheap walmart supertech filters are 10x better than fram.

ive used frams for 2years, never saw a single problem. But threads not about fram filters... nice scraper btw

I've been using Fram for awhile now also, havent had a problem so far, but I would like to know what you other 1G guys are using for oil filters???? so I can change over and possible see a difference. sorry to whore the thread, bad ass motor build up though, you really should think about producing those pieces.

pennzoil makes a good one and its cheaper than fram. i used to use O.E. mitsu but that got pricey and i hate going to the dealership.

Nice engine, especially like the crank scraper. I use a mobile one filter and haven't had any problems.

Yea man, would you be interested in fabing a couple of those up for a reasonable price? Thats a much easier set-up than the ones I've seen that you have to weld into the oil pan. Easier to install too! :thumb:

could I get the exact part numbers of those oil filters? like the Fram I use is PH3950.

Indeed, get Mitsu Filters, they're made by Denso, and the best that I've seen.
I've used the $12 Mobil 1 filters, and nothing keeps my oil cleaner than the Mitsu Filters.
I bought a case of 12 from a dealer in Ohio online for $50 shipped to CA.

I've read that Fram Filters are the absolute worst filters you can put on a DSM....

thanks a lot guys, I guess next time I change my oil I'll buy a bunch mitsu filters.

I love the purelator filters sp? and amsoil 10w30 full synthic

damm I cant spell (I just woke up)
