ok i was wondering if i had a boost leak or if the bearings in my turbo are gone. when im at wot im only running around 7psi until 5g then it drops to 5psi. also the turbo is pretty loud and it is mostly stock except for a cut air can and k&n filter. also there is a sound coming out of the exhaust like air escaping. i let my friend drive by at wot and it sounds like a B-52 taking off. i have redone all of the intake hoses because they were kindof getting bad and i noticed that there is oil coating the whole intake tract.. is this a bad turbo?. i still havent done a leak test but have done the thing some1 sed about spraying carberator cleaner on all of the joints to see if the revs rise.. and that checked fine. please help

According to your profile, you have an n/t(non-turbo) so you cant have a boost leak.

Now if you purchased a turbo, first, update your profile. Second, pull the upper heat shield off of the manifold and look for cracks, loose or missing manifold studs and turbo to manifold bolts. You might need to replace the turbo gaskets also. Third, since youve come this far, pull the lower heat shield off of the turbo. If you remove the driver side fan, this step is alot easier. Now you can check the o2 housing for cracks and loose bolts.

sorry i used the wrong screen name to post this thread.. i now have a 91 gs-t. the heat shield is off of the manifold and there are no cracks that i can see ill try taking off the heat sheild on the turbo. the sound is coming from the exit of the exhaust at the rear of the car tho. just like a loud air excapeing sound. not exhaust sound. sorry for the mix up with the profile and screen name
