I just bought a luk clutch for my 92 fwd turbo I was wondering if anyone else has one of these, and I was wondering how good they work cuz mines not installed yet...thanks

LuK clutches are just a stock clutch. nothing real major, but i would say they are good. i have put several in cars and never a prob.:thumb:

I wouldn't expect a Luk clutch to take any more than a few hard launches. When I worked at Pep Boys all we sold was Luk. It's a cheap, crappy brand and people always complained.

Luk clutches are a good OEM clutch. They are used in nearly every Chyrsler vehicle (manual) on the road today.

Interesting note. They are the OEM supplier for Chevy on the Duramax plateform. Well, the type of clutch used on Diesels today is a Self Adjusting Clutch (SAC) along with a Dual-Mass Flywheel (DMFW). Anyhow, when us Dodge boys were developing the SAC/DMFW system for the new 600 ft lb Cummins diesel package that is on showrooms today, LUK started with the Chevy Duramax SAC as a basline. Remember that clutch was a current production clutch on their vehicle. Well, the Ram has so much torque off idle that the Duramax clutch was overpowered. They sheared rivits on the disk backing it on and off trailers. Thus, you can see how much MORE torque we are putting out than the Duramax. They had to significantly build up that clutch to handle our power.

I am getting a LuK put in my 1998 eclipse non turbo tommorow. It comes with a flywheel so thats cool. Cottman Transmission is putting it in for $600 even though it was supposed to be more but manager guarenteed me it wouldn't be more than $600 not knowing the kit came with a flywheel LOL. Hope it works good because I just need a good clutch for my non modded car to make it run good thats all! :thumb:

we have modular clutchs in our cars, thats why they come with a fly wheel. I want a better clutch soon. Whats good? I've never studied clutch's for our cars.

Anything that works is fine with me. I don't plan on modding this car.

I just got a LuK clutch put into my car today. It is pretty easy to push the pedal in, is that normal? What can I do to make sure it is working fine. Also sometimes when you are letting the clutch pedal out it feels kinda like its crunchy which it did this before I got it installed too. Not really crunchy but a little you know LOL. Are clutches on this car self adjusting? Maybe after a little driving it will feel better.

according to the parts rep. it's normal for the pedal to feel soft becuse its a modular clutch.

Oh ok then :) Nothing bad with it being that way I just have to get used to it. It will get a little bit stiffer as it breaks in though I was told by many people. I just don't like on these cars how the pedal has to be pushed almost all the way to get in gear and released all the way to catch decently. Adjusting anymore the tranny shop said that it would cause the clutch to slip which you don't want either.

Thanks,
Jared
