If you have the 2 separate components in the dash then you don't have the Infinity system, just the regular Mitsu one. Same thing mine came with, cassette deck with add on cd player. Both sitting in my garage now along with my last CD deck and a bunch of speakers I've used over the past year and a half, haha..

yeah i got the separate components in the dash....

are they worth keeping? i'm gonna get that deck and i'll need to amp the speakers since the deck has none...

suggestions on amp's etc? i'd rather not replace the speakers though coz i'd rather have go fast parts :D

There's a possibility that your deck might overpower the stock speakers too much. The way I got started in car audio was by blowing my stock speakers in my old car with an aftermarket deck. I guess if you don't turn it up to the max you should be ok.

well the deck i'm buying (alpine cda-7995) has no internal amp...

so what should i do?

i found this amp here which i think will work.

but based on the dimensions does anyone know if there is room behind the deck or something to fit that amp in there?

i'm trying to wire the amp as CLOSE AS POSSIBLE to the deck but i don't know how feasible this is...

any help anyone?

IMO Boss isn't exactly a great brand but that doesn't mean it wouldn't do the job. As far as fitting behind the deck, the answer would be no. If you want it as close to the deck as possible I'm guessing either under the glove compartment or in it or underneath a seat.

well if you look at the dimensions that amp is only 7x9x 2 1/2. is there no way this would fit?

the only reason i'm looking at that amp is because it's cheap - i've checked on amp's both here and on dsmtrader and didn't find any good prices (i'm trying to keep cost down so i can lower and get an exhaust)

also, does anyone know where a good place to feed a power wire through the firewall is?
i haven't looked at the car in depth yet, but it would be great if someone had an article on this.

Thanks fellas!

Why don't you just buy a deck with an amp? It would make things so much easier and I'm almost positive Alpine makes a deck with an internal amp.

the deck i'm looking at is the alpine cda 7995 which (the ones i've found) don't have an amp, but i'm looking at getting the deck shipped to me for 150ish when it goes new for 250 or more...

i've always loved the silver alpine that looks like this one and this is such a nice deck and such a good deal i don't want to pass it up...

:D

yeah, almost every Alpine deck along with almost every other deck in existance. This thing sounds like a pain for someone that isn't looking to do a full system.

define full system...

i'm looking at getting the new deck and amp if it doesn't have one, and i have a fosgate 400.1 in my old car hooked up to a crappy sub.

i'm looking at getting a w6 to hook that amp up to .

but we shall see... :D

power wire thru the groomet under the battery tray where all the outher wires are.

if it doesn't have an infinity amp under the pass set you might be able to use the plug behind the deck.
if it does have the infini system you are going to end up bypassing the factory amp or using an RCA to factory amp converter which will make your install very easy.

max Id run on an external amp would be 25 watts rms thats about all the factory speakers can handle (thats about 50- 60 w of headunit power)

hmmm ok, well i don't have the infinity system...

but what do you mean by i might be able to use the plug behind the deck??

if you had the 6 speaker infinity system with dash tweeters and mids in doors, you would not want ot use the wiring behind the head unbit for speakers, just for power ground acc and antenna remote. you'd bring the speaker wires down to under the pass. seat and bypass the factory amp.

since you dont have that you can use the factory adapter plug to feed the amplified sound back into the factory harness and on to the factory speakers.

i thought only the infinity system had six speakers? because my system has the in dash speakers....

and if i had the infinity system wouldn't the speaker wires already be under the seat at the amp?

The 4 speaker system I only noticed on RS models.

Anyways, define full system? I'm not talking about a deck and a sub. That's pretty much what you end up doing when all you wanna do is make sure people around you know you have bass but you have no idea about what you're doing. When I say full system, I mean upgrading the wires, switching out the speakers, putting components in the doors, and so on. I love SPL but I also go for SQ in my car. It's gotta sound right the whole way through or else I can't enjoy the music.

don't get me wrong, i love the bass, but you can't have good SQ with just bass. But honestly stock systems never have enough bump for me which is where the bump comes in (i'm looking at putting a w6 pushed by a rockford 400.1 in there :D).

The stock speakers sounded fine when i listened to them, but then again i only drove my car for 2 hours until the turbo blew up  )

so upgrading the bump may necesiate (how the hell do you spell that word!!?!?) new speakers, but time shall tell.

for now i'm just concerned with buying that deck (assuming the jackass would ever get back to me about it    )and getting that running in there.

oh and btw i looked under the passenger seat for an amp but i didnt find one but yet i still have stock speakers - whats the deal??

thoughts anyone?

simply, if the deck you're purchasing doesn't have an internal amp, then you're gonna have to buy an external amp, thats about it. You don't have the Infinity system, just like how my car was when I bought it. 6 speaker system, cassette deck with add-on OEM CD player, exactly how mine was.

For the money you are going to spend on the deck + amp + all the shit you need to install it you might as well just get a deck with an AMP in it. It will be SO much easier to install as well. On my girl's car we rigged up some nice looking sony unit with a 52x4 built in amp, the headunit has a sub pre out that gives you full control over the amp/subs, FROM the head unit! The headunit was like 200$ and 160$ after the "discount"

thats only 20 watts rms. jsut about the same as the factory amp.

I run 40-60 watts... much better.
20 lets you hear the music, anything over 35 lewts you experience it.

True, but he's lookin for a cheap setup, and the 52x4 that we put in my wife's isn't bad at all, it even has some feature on it I don't remember what it's called but it is suppose to make it sound like the tunes aren't coming from the bottoms of the doors and moves the sound upward, the thing actually works and it's pretty damn cool.. Do they even make a deck w/ built in amp thats more than around 50-54 watts???

1st: You can't put an amp in the dash or whatever, either in the hatch or under the seat or something.

2nd: I wouldnt put an aftermarket amp on the factory speakers, you will most likely blow them.

3rd: With the money you would spend on an amp and that deck, you could just buy a pretty nice deck with an internal amp.

4th: A deck with internal amp will push, alot less watts that an external aftermarket amp, and will be less likely to blow your speakers.

Can the stock speakers handle 40 watts rms? I thought the infinity amp was only 20 watts rms.

I think you're thinking of a feature called "dso" if I remember right...

The most watts I've seen is around 50 from a deck.

oh and a question - my stock speakers sound pretty good, but are they worth keeping?
