2G autos are nice because it would seem that they are less likely to crankwalk BUT there is no difinitive proof to back this up. There are A/Ts that walk but it seems to be more rare than the M/T. Some people say the reason for this is because there is no load on the crank like there is with a clutch.

As far as advantages though that would probably be the only one. I had an A/T FWD 2G and pulled 13.8@101mph on 15psi with a 20G. I'm sure the car could have done better but I bought my AWD and moved on. You might be able to build boost off the line but unless your pulling monster 60fts your going to do bad. I pulled 2.0 60fts on street tires with mine and that is considered decent when it comes to A/T FWDs Kiggly had a FWD A/T 1G that was running 10s. The thing you need to do if you race an A/T DSM is upgrade the tranny parts or go with a fully build A/T. Which honestly does not cost that much more than a fully built M/T. (about 2500-3000).
