- Originally my car was the 1.8 non turbo. Bought a 1991 tsi off a buddy for $500. With that being said expectations are clear. The tsi started and i was able to drive it home after sitting for 1-2 years. Pulled it in the driveway and the swap began. 5 days later, after swapping everything from the suspension, the ecu and firewall, to the motor and turbo. Ive replaced various parts; Intake and maf, exhaust, water pump and timing belt,fuel pump, radiator, intercooler, turbo seals,valve covers,got the blow off recirculated, have got it tuned and dynoed i know im forgetting other imformation.
Current update: Blew my waste gate off, was on my way to the garageIi take it to (Early Performance) and on my way i was 3rd gear 5000 rpm in full boost and an antifreeze line from my turbo blew and it had done this twice a few days before. They believe it s a bad head gasket, so im considering the new head gasket and head studs, also my car gets alot of lag so i was looking to get a bigger turbo maybe a 20g?
My boost lag issue: Using a 16g on stock boost (around 8lbs) so bare with me while i attempt to explain. 2nd gear accelerating the turbo will spool and build boost, around 4500 ill be in full boost. Now shifting to 3rd (Sometimes) ill be around 3 grand and as i accelerate my turbo will act as if i am in full boost but there is almost no speed/acceleration and i can feel lag in the turbo. help.
